A Rivertown Series – Artwork

Something a little different for a change.

I have had these images for a while now, and recently decided to do a blog post about them. A few landmarks from around here at home.

First up, we have the old Conway Post Office, it was built around 1807. It is now home to the Horry County Museum. While it might not be all glorious as other buildings, it has stood the test of time and a testament to the builders of the day.

Old Conway Post Office

Next is the Peanut Warehouse, during it’s life it has served as a tobacco and fertilizer warehouse and hence it’s current name, a Peanut Warehouse. It helped define this river community during the turn of the century. Today it is used as a venue for weddings and party’s and social events.

Peanut Warehouse

Here we have the Waccamaw River Bridge that will lead you to Conway’s main street. Built in 1937, it has become a landmark in Conway. When someone says “meet me under the bridge” you know exactly where they are talking about. Many events are held each year under the bridge, to name one, the Bluegrass on the Waccamaw, a great Bluegrass music get together. This photo does not show the section that extends a fair distance over land where events are held.

Waccamaw River Bridge

Next is the Horry County Courthouse located on 3rd Avenue in downtown Conway. Built in 1908 it had only one main section and in the 50’s, two side wings were added, and yet as time moves on, even more has been added. The majestic Oak trees, glorious Magnolias, and spectacular Azaleas,  make this building really stand out.

Horry County Court House

I hope to capture more historic building and landmarks in and around Conway as time permits.

Thanks for looking.

Pawleys Island South Carolina Wedding: Kerri + Thomas

He loves her. He loves her with every ounce of his heart.

Thomas has always taken care of Kerri in such a tender and caring way that it was no surprise, when —after 6 years into their relationship— he asked for her hand in marriage. So it was fitting for the two of them to host a tender and caring wedding with no detail overlooked.

Over one hundred and thirty guests traveled to Pawleys Island for their ceremony and the Pawleys Island Chapel served as a gorgeous backdrop. With her rotunda suite overlooking the grand low country marsh in Litchfield, Kerri stepped onto the the weathered wood of the boardwalk and into the sun. As the band set up in the Tara Ballroom at Litchfield Beach and Golf Resort, she shielded her eyes from the bright sunlight with one hand and waved to her father with the other. Much like a princess in a tower, Kerri looked down hoping to maybe get a sneak peek of Thomas, but before she could, Kerri’s bridesmaids beckoned her to don her gown and prepare for her sunset ceremony.

I’m so calm right now, …I mean I have no reason to be nervous because I know, I know there’’s no one else but him. And with that, she and a group of girls traveled a busy low country highway to the chapel where Kerri blossomed into a Mrs. and shall continue to love Thomas tenderly for as long as they both shall live.

Thomas and Kerri, THANK YOU for everything. You treated us like royalty and always thought about our needs before your own, —it was definitely appreciated and did not go unnoticed! We enjoyed your wedding and spending the day with you both!

Here are some photos from their day.

January 27, 2010 - 1:22 PM Boundless Photos - Great photos James, the bride and her bridesmaids with the setting sun behind is a lovely shot, I like the shoes on the lighthouse too, nice fun shot.

Sweet Baby Ava!

“From the moment your were born, I knew what love was really about, I loved you more than anything, Beyond the shadow of a doubt!”

I can relate to the above, and I know mom Jodi and dad Dietrich feel the same, their hearts bursting with pride and happiness, from their bundle of joy – Ava!

Yesterday I had a great time taking Baby Ava’s 12 month portraits. She has the brightest blue eyes I have ever seen and the sweetest personality! She was such a joy to be around and spend time with. She brought along some of her FAV toys too, a cute white teddy bear and a tiny little USC bear.

Ava did an awesome job during all the picture taking, she put up no fuss and was all smiles and laughs. We took one bottle break during the 2 hour session but hey, it is hard work being a model!

Say Hello to Baby Ava.

December 21, 2009 - 4:09 PM Jodi Braziel - Thank you so much for taking the time to capture such wonderful pictures of our little angel Ava. We absolutely love them all and we really appreciate the time you spent with us. You certainly have a gift. Dietrich & Jodi

Sweet Baby Rylee!

A wonderful Saturday evening spent with beautiful baby Rylee. We met at the Riverwalk in Conway. The evening was pleasant, maybe a tad on the warm side, but the late afternoon color and scenery were amazing as was Rylee! It really wouldn’t have mattered where we shot, as Rylee was so darn cute! Her mom had the cutest outfits for Rylee, I loved the blue dress with the R on it!
It’s amazing how time flies when you’re having fun, Rylee stayed true like a trooper though, nearly 2 hours long! She didn’t seem to mind having her pictures made, and toward the end of our shoot, she actually started to dance, she was having a blast as much as I was!

I had a lot of fun during our photo shoot and hope Rylee and family enjoy the sneak peek!

I Live – I Laugh – I Love

It seems as if it was only yesterday that I unwrapped the package my new rental was in. I opened it with anticipation of not knowing what to expect. I had hoped our time together would be longer, but it was not meant to be, it had been predetermined, it was only for a short time, for tomorrow, I will carefully pack it back in it’s traveling container and say farewell. I had a lot of fun with this lens and will surely call upon it again in the future!

Today, I spent a few moments taking snap shots of things around me, to remind me, how good this lens is. If you have manged to stay this long and read this far, you’re probably wondering what in the world am I talking about? What crazy talk he speaks! Perhaps so, but I just want to share some of the images from the Canon EF 50mm f/1.2L USM and mention that this lens is great! From it’s narrow depth of field, to it’s awesome color and contrast!

During it’s visit, I put it to work twice. Once was during Amanda and Billy’s wedding that you may have read about on a previous post, I used it for a family portrait session this past Saturday, and again while playing with the kitty’s in the back yard.

A few of the images from today…

Live your life at it’s fullest, Laugh at all the things that don’t matter, Love with all you have and more…

August 26, 2009 - 8:19 AM Lisa B - James.. awesome work!!!! What camera are you using these days?

August 26, 2009 - 9:09 AM James - Hi Lisa! Thank you for the kind words! I'm still using a Canon 5D. It has been one workhorse of a camera!

Peaches and Cookie

So I’m outside (yeah, it’s hot!) and messing around with this lens, when Peaches and Cookie act like they want a few photos of themselves.

I love it when they come to me for attention! I don’t have to go chasing them around the yard…lol

Here are a few photos from their impromptu photo session.

Amanda + Billy : Wedding | Myrtle Beach Wedding Photographer

It was a rather warm and humid day with threatening rain clouds off in the distance. But Amanda took it all in stride and let nothing seem to worry her. Their wedding had been scheduled over the next two days, the ceremony on Friday and the reception on Saturday. I thought that was a very neat way to celebrate your wedding without all the hustle and bustle of trying to do everything in one day!

The ceremony took place at Amanda’s hometown church in Lancaster, SC, where family and a few friends had gathered for the exchange of vows. Amanda & Billy share a love that runs deep and wide and it shows! I’m so glad that I got to be a part of their day! After the vows were said, the rings exchanged, and the love in their eyes and on their face telling all, the wedding then moved to Columbia, SC, where the next day would hold THE party! But before the party, Billy’s mom hosted a wonderful dinner Friday night at Diannes on Devine, in honor of Amanda & Billy. The menu was awesome and the atmosphere was excellent! A great way to relax with friends and family sharing many toasts!

The reception was held in the Atrium at the South Carolina State Museum in Columbia. What a great way to have a party with friends and family! The food was super delicious, the music rocked, and the bar was fabulous, not to mention a unique place to have a party! A great evening among guests, spending time with one another was just super fab!

Amanda & Billy’s honeymoon will be on a train ride through the Canadian Rocky Mountains! What a great way to begin their life together as husband and wife!
I wish you all the best Amanda and Billy, have a wonderful honeymoon and I’ll talk to you when you get back.

And now for some pictures from their wedding.

Amanda’s Bridal Pictures – Myrtle Beach Bridal Photography

Amanda & Billy had their wedding this weekend in Lancaster and THE party was in Columbia, (I will be posting that soon), so now…I can finally post Amanda’s Bridal photos!

Both Amanda & Billy graduated college at the University Of South Carolina in Columbia, SC, it was only fitting to have Amanda’s bridal portraits made on and around the campus of USC! We started the day at the “Horseshoe” a historic part of USC campus and a beautiful location for portraits!

As Amanda & Billy are also huge fans of USC sports, Amanda wanted to have some of her portraits at the various sports venues of USC…so we did! :)

Without further ado, it is my pleasure to present to you, a fun, energetic, lively, and most beautiful Amanda!

Down on the Farm! | Brittany Senior Session

What a beautiful day to capture some amazing photos of an awesome senior! I would like you to meet Brittany!
The late afternoon/evening color, set in place by the setting summer sun was just plain inspiring! The temperature was warm…not hot, the slight breeze blowing in from the south made it very pleasant, and Brittany’s eyes and smiles just lit the place up!

Brittany is a “G.R.I.T.S” girl! You might be asking what is G.R.I.T.S.? Well, it stands for Girls Raised In The South! How cool is that! She loves the outdoors, loves the country, loves the long summer days, and livin’ down on the farm!

We had a great time making photos for her senior year. We started the session off with Yellow, Brittany’s horse, he was a little skittish at first, but he soon calmed down and we captured some great photos!

Here a few of her photos from down on the farm!
Sorry for posting so many, I couldn’t help myself! :D
